We are looking to hire for the position of Middle School Spanish as an Additional Language (SAL) Long Term Substitute Teacher for next semester, starting early March, 2026, through to the end of September, 2026 Qualifications and Experience Degree and teaching certificate that covers SAL in grades 6-8 or equivalent Minimum of 2 years relevant teaching experience Cross cultural experience and understanding Must be fluent in both Spanish and English Experience working in an inclusive, multicultural school environment Experience delivering social and emotional learning lessons Skills, Attitudes, and Dispositions Ability to inspire middle school students and celebrate their unique stage of development Ability to differentiate instruction in a class with diverse learning needs Ability to create an engaging and active learning environment in a student-centered classroom Flexibility to adapt to changing instructional needs and/or scheduling needs Strong skills of collaboration Strong classroom management skills Main Duties and Responsibilities Use the school's guiding statements to determine appropriate learning objectives Plan lesson sequences according to existing unit plans Create a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students feel safe and cared for Understand and use best practices connected with language acquisition Monitor and evaluate student progress and achievement in relation to learning objectives Use a body of learning evidence to inform instruction Maintain accurate records of student growth and performance for the purposes of feedback and reporting Serve as a middle school advisor Collaborate effectively with colleagues in creating authentic learning experiences that promote student choice and student agency Communicate effectively with SAL department members and the MS teaching team Maintain an orderly and safe classroom environment Actively seek professional growth opportunitte
